Today, I am announcing eltswift. It was initialy an abandoned experiment, but i decided to pick it up again.
Eltswift is an elten client written natively in swift, making it run smoothly on macos and also ios and ipad os. It currently allowes you to send/receive elten private messages (text and voice) and use the elten forum (text, voice, mixed). In fact, i am right now typing this post on my macbook, and not in parallels but natively. Next planed features are elten feeds and blogs, and after that conferences.
The first version of this app with a few more bugfixes will soon roll out on testflight and the link will be posted here. Now i wonder, is anyone interested in this and in testing it? All you need is speak english or german (as that are the localisations currently) and have a mac with macos 14.0 or later, or an iphone with ios 17.0 or later.
Thanks for reading and i am looking forward to your responses,
Ngl pajper is very slow so. His client is much less capable, it only has a message sound as difference. But is probably no problem to implement notification sounds, also in app, for this one.
Oh my goodness, yes! I would absolutely use this and I'm very eager to test. It would actually allow me to be more active here, as I am primarily a Mac user.
Hi everyone. Just finished another update to eltswift. Here’s what changed.
- bugfix: you can no longer accidentally make voice posts in text only forums and vice versa. Was an oversight of mine since i mostly tested it on mixed forums. - push notifications are now much much more reliable both on ios and macos. - fixed the bug of voice messages not playing (think that one also occured in the demonstration audio) - added a what’s new dialog with currently new messages, new answers in followed threads, new threads in follofed forums, new mentions and friend requests. - fixed some accessibility label mismatches between ios and macos, for example, on some buttons it would tell you to „double tab“ to perform action. This is not whatsapp macos here lol.
I think this might verry well be the version i will put to testflight, so expect to see something there in the next days.
And how exactly will you find out it is swift just because you, will get the app on your device? Idk why he would say it's swift, even showing a demo, about to release it, and then it turns out it's not. Even if not, it wouldn't matter a damn lmao. It just needs to be doing what it's supposed to.
I can guarantee it’s swift, hehe. It was actually at first a mac only client, i only later figured out how awesome this multiplatform thing is so i also made it for mobile. Now mobile sorta became the main platform since i use my phone and ipad more often now, but i still active the mac build actively.
