a new game is coming out tomorrow, Executioner's Rage
Wróć do Games#41 Sir-Charlie
@34, Re: FH and the edit box. That's completely false. It has all of the features you mentioned aside for cutting. And as for the reverb, there are different models that you can try or disable it if you wish.
To the overall topic about is python bad for games? No, no it's absolutely not. It's just that the people who code in python all make really, really retarded choices. UA and Executioner's Rage are prime examples of this.
Python itself can be very powerful and efficient. It's the most popular programming language in the world for a reason. BGT will always be far behind Python because it can't leverage a quarter of the things that python can thanks to it's ocean of resources and libs. NGT will also suffer the same fate unless it's able to get Angelscript/C++ support, and even then it's far more difficult to properly utilise C++ versus Py.

py is powerful but still not designed for games. And that makes a difference, obvioursly. So if you say this, maybe explane to me what I am doing wrong by pressing control v and nothing happens?
#43 Sir-Charlie
@42 I'm literally not sure. I'm able to copy and paste plus word nav perfectly fine on FH.
Also what do you mean not designed for games? Explain how there are dozens of game libraries for python while there are little to none for other languages.

For me it always seemed like, though I can be wrong, other languages don't need as many libs at all, they're quite good without libs already. Also, as we see, we have no big audio game in python. IDK what qc is, stw is obviously nvgt, mist world is java, which sounds more like gaming, even cp is nvgt by now, which all is angelscript based, plus you don't have a hundrid files to need the game going. Python needs, literally, hundrids of files indeed. Some are smart to sub folder them properly so the main directory doesn't have 60 or more files but, well. Anything more to that?
#45 blindpro
well , this game is dead i think. no players any more sadly. best audiogame we have or will have for a while.
#46 Aidenn
yes, this game is truely amasing
#47 Aidenn
also what are you talking about there is 12 online at the moment
#48 marchoffmann
Best audio game jajajaj. May I ask what makes it be that...
#49 ArcticMoon
It's funny when the only argument is soooooo many files!
Don't ever buy a house, they've used sooooo many bricks to build it from the ground up!

If that was the only argument, then you didn't read my posts enough and generally didn't understand anything of what we tried to bring across.
If we take your house example. Well there's obviously no other way to build it than using many bricks, or is there one? So that example was dumm.
Again, read the posts fully, and then answer without going crazy thanks.

Many files is only a problem in audiogame land because we don't use proper installers. Look at Constant Battle which is supposedly C++. Take a look at their programmes folder and come back to me. And it's not just that, download any mainstream game and come back.

Python is perhaps the second most suitable programming language for developing games. I can give a thousand examples and of course, 90% of all games were sadly not developed for our community. But I can say and with my own experience, that python can literally do anything. Even if you know how to do it, an online game has the best performance it can possibly have. especially if it works in conjunction with other programming languages.
I don't know how the performance of this game is going. but from there I learned that there is a lot of lag, or of course, the developer did not know how to implement certain things well. undead assault was in python, and performed very well.
#53 techboy
bro, i was talking with the dev and he didn't get why people hated it either. I mean, I get it. Laggy, fps, not turn based like every blind person's dream, but its only the first cupple of versions you guys. give it some time.
#54 Sir-Charlie
Didn't they say that this was in development for several years? If that's the case then many of the bugs that currently exist shouldn't be there. I mean, some of the problems seem to be developer imcompetence. Hellooooo? They have moving and apparently navigating through the inventory serverside
#55 techboy
yeah but they didn't base it off of anything, and maybe years was more of, a year? Idk but they didn't take any code base and they didn't have anyone to provide feedback so what do you expect really?

We need to stop handwaving mediocrity.
#57 blindflatearther2
in that case it sounds as if they never tested the game if what you are saying is true or even valid tech boy
#58 ArcticMoon
Absolutely. But well, at least we had a good laugh. I mean so many files, good lord lol

New update! Includes local walking (no walk lag) and more!
Wow, and more, how informative. I won't try it, but pasted their mastodon post here if someone of youwants to.
#60 Sir-Charlie
@58 yeah I know, their arguments are absolutely ridiculous.
