Any festival goers here?
Wróć do Culture and Art#1 Urh2006
Hey all. I'm planning to start going to festivals. Probably porookaville next year or ultra perhaps. Any other people that like going to festivals here?
#2 Urh2006
seriously? no ravers here?
#3 ArcticMoon
Good luck alone as a blind person between people, who want to fool even sighted folks with random drugs or such. I'm already waiting for your next "what type of drug it must have been" topic after a busy festival out there.
#4 Urh2006
no because unlike most of people around here I am not in a closed circle of blind friends which go somewhere but I engage/join groups of sighted people
#5 ArcticMoon
I'm not in such cyrcles either. But on a huge festival like that, you won't have any luck. I'm sorry for getting you back into reality.

I am not saying it's bad if you don't like partying, but I've been to raves before with my sighted folks so I know what I'm doing.
#7 Urh2006
the only reason I posted this topic is to see if there are others like me that like to go on things such as that.
#8 ArcticMoon
And then you are wondering people put drugs in your meal or drinks. I would be more carefull if I were you.
#9 Urh2006
My views have changed. That thing that was put into my icecream was free drugs for me, not anything dangerous. Besides, it wasn't the first thing that I've tried, it's just that it shocked me people do that, nothing less and nothing more. I do use drugs recreationally, very rarely but when I do I only use for parties/bigger events, never alone. So that is why it was even worse since it was just me and this othr friend at that time. Just seriously, do not assume stuff before people have the time to elaberate.

I haven't ever been to a festival, but been to quite a big concert on Saturday and it was amazing. No regrets whatsoever, the sound was good volume, no distortions, everything was vibrating from the bass, I was jumping, dancing and screaming the lyrics and I'm definitely going again, when I get the chance. I went alone and I survived, it's honestly not that bad, but it's always good to be careful in such situations. Then again, I'm quite a tall and well-built person, so I didn't fall even when surrounded by tons of people pushing around, still it can happen to anyone.
#11 Urh2006
yup it can, this pushing thing is bad especially if you're not always around the people that you brought with you. By the way, I started to wear earplugs now at least to the more loud stuff to protect my hearing. I'd advise others to do the same.

Yes, what a good idea, congratulations on making it even more difficult to hear what is going on around you. It's not enough that so many blind people on the street are wearing headphones, some even walk blindly into the midst of hundreds of thousands of people like that. It just boggles my mind like seriously.
#13 Urh2006
no, but when music is blasting 150 db you need that badly. unless of course you're one of those people that like ringing in their ears.
#14 Urh2006
they're not standard earplugs mind you, they're earplugs that just reduce sounds, not muffle them. and I can confirm this from experience.
#15 khalil2009
ah yes, lets wear earplugs in a croud where people can sneek up on you and do god knows what. such a good idea
#16 ArcticMoon
But that's the problem, Urh. They reduce sound. All a blind person can rely on is sound!

I think it depends on the context. If you move out of the way of the crowd and stay back, but being at a distance from the stage where you can still hear the music well, earplugs are not a bad idea. Imagine being at a metal concert for example, the electric guitars blasting powered by amplifiers and you're not wearing any ear protection. Hell no, no way.
#18 Urh2006
exactly that @DJCenter. As for you Arctic moon, this is exactly why you don't go alone. And well if you still don't like that I think you are not suitable for any larger concerts.

I never been to a rave or festival, but I am going to when I am 18. In my country the 16+ stuf is not that good. And yes, it sounds like a dangerous idea to wear ear plugs, but you need them at conserts for sure. And you have to make sure that the people who you are going with just look after you whell so you don't get bad experiences. If you fear to be sneaked up on, why do you even go outside?
#20 Urh2006
I'm not afraid to be sneeked up on, but yeah, all of the points you mention are correct.
