i'm not aware of you being able to stream urls? I only saw the option to put objects, stream your soundcard or audio files which are saved on your pc

Yes you can do this, go to more options, streaming, my streams, then press the alt key, and there's an option where it says new Internet stream.

but then it should work, doesn't it

It doesn't work for YouTube videos, at least I tried it, and I'm trying to stream a radio station, and I think it needs to be the direct player without any additional links.

no, you can't stream from youtube, if you have any stream from radio, I guess, it should work.

I guess you should be able to stream songs which have a direct link.

george. the youtube url is not actually a stream url. a youtube url is made for users to quickly open videos. and the site, where the video plays, will automatically get video streams from youtube server. but a stream url is for getting the actual data. a streaming clients makes a request on the url: hey, what is the next chunk of audio? and it replies you: hear it is. and the chunk. it asks for chunks untill it bufers a few seconds. but if your streaming player asks a youtube url: hey what is the stream? the server will not understand the request because the site is not directly streamable. hope it is usefull

I understand now thanks. At least for now, I can only stream CFNO, which is a station on my local area that has the direct link when I press CTRL U. Hopefully I can find other stations in Canada which has the direct audio streaming URL.
