YouTube program crashing upon searching for a video

First off, I realize I've basically been posting on here daily. Sorry for the spam.

I recently installed the YouTube program through Elten, however I'm having a little crashing problem. When I search for something, it begins to search for a few seconds then suddenly falls over backwards, with the standard (insert process here) has stopped working dialog appearing. Does anyone else have this problem?

Yeah, I know. We're waiting for update of library used by Youtube program, as API has changed a bit.

The program has needed an update for quite some time now, and I don't see anything happening concerning the update.

One thing I actually found out, you can still do stuff with videos if you paste their exact URLs in the search field.

#6

I don't like going on YouTube to get a URL, and if I have to do that, then I'll use Pontes Media Downloader to convert it, and I can do wave format with that.

You've got a point there. I prefer mp3, so for me, it doesn't matter if it's pontes or elten.

#8

I prefer MP3 as well, but if I need to do any editing for some reason, normalizing or whatever, then I have to have it in wave first.

Well I just use audacity for normalizing / getting the levels right. The "amplify" effect does the job for me. The slider is always set correctly, at the maximum level where there's no distortion.

#10

I use Studio Recorder and it is set to decode MP3 to wave, so a bit of quality loss. I think Audacity converts to wave for the edit too but I'm not sure. I've never gotten any normalize function or whatever to work for me in that program. I believe MP3 Direct Cut is the only program that can work with MP3 without converting, but I definitely could be wrong about that.

We're kinda flying off-topic here, but I honestly can't tell the difference between MP3 and Wave, and my hearing is excellent.

Me neither, at least with 256 kbps and higher.

#13

Could be useful. I mean pasting the link into the search field. I don't do any editing so can't comment.

#14

Yay! There's finally an update to YouTube and it works!

#19

Yes, I instaled, elten's update, a moment ago. I stil get the same thing.

It's not the Elten's update we are talking about here. It's the Youtube update which you find under "Programs and then "programs installation. It should say, "Youtube 81.0.2".
