I had hoped that accessibility in the new Skype would improve with the April creators update as I saw was to be the case, but I haven't seen any such improvement.
Reviving this thread just for a bit, just for a little update, or rant if you will.
I tried changing the audio device to see if I could get any sounds from the new Skype, with absolutely no luck. The test audio link does nothing. I've noticed that no sounds I have set up to play do so, which led me to the switch test.
On a slightly brighter note, for JAWS users at any rate, Doug Lee, a really good script writer, has a scripts page for Skype UWP. it is http://www.dlee.org/skype/uwp/
Yes, I was made aware of this yesterday evening. I updated the older Skype, stupidly as it turned out, and lost my older Skype early. Attempts to roll back failed.
I can use the newer Skype, but as you may be aware of in another thread I made, I can't hear any Skype-related sounds except for call audio. Therefore, I can make calls but can't tell when I'm getting one. I know that not all people suffer from this affliction, but since I do, and no answers are forthcoming as to a solution, I'm rather saddened. For the most part I do like the new Skype, if only I could get my problem solved. Oh well.
You're using a UWP version of skype... I've found an information somewhere on the internet, that the desktop versions of skype will be turnet off at september 30
I installed Skype 8 on my Mac and Windows computer already, the reason I did that now is to get use to it. I don't think it's that bad but others may disagree. The layout looks like the Windows 10 UWP app.
I don't mind the looks so much, just the lack of Skype-related sounds not being played. Call audio works fine, both mike and speakers. NVDA reads chat messages to me, but for calls, it's vital that the incoming call sound be played!
On a brighter note, I did finally receive a call successfully on Skype UWP. I'm not sure what I did to fix it. The audio test link still does nothing but if it works, it works.
Yesterday I saw an article that said Microsoft recieved a lot of feedback about Skype 8 accessibility so I guess they decided to keep Skype Classic for now. I don't know when Microsoft will retire Skype Classic.
I tried use new Skype wersion from Microsoft store but i cant. After i try log in using Microsoft accound skype displaying error and i can't solwe it. My Microsoft accound work properly but i'm not logging to my computer using it. I prefer standard user accound. It can be problem for Skype? What can be wrong?
Sygnatura to może być w sądzie. Sygnatura sprawy np. :P
I saw an artic8 now so you could get use to it.le on Twitter today that said that Microsoft will end support for Skype 7 on November 1st. You should probably install Skype
It's definitely easier if you can manage to sign in on your basic account, but somehow I managed to get in on, well, one account or the other. My Microsoft account is signed in on this machine, but I don't think I used it for Skype, though it is merged with the Skype one.
